Call for applications: Blavatnik Cambridge postdoctoral Fellowships in STEM subjects

The Blavatnik Cambridge Fellowship

Funded by the Blavatnik Family Foundation and managed by the British Council in Israel, the scheme is designed to further strengthen British-Israeli scientific relations by developing the academic capacities of Israel’s brightest young scientists in the fields of life sciences, physical sciences and engineering.

This is a great opportunity for early career researchers in Israel to kick start their career in a top international academic institution and join the growing community of Blavatnik Cambridge Fellows, while weaving international academic network and working in Cambridge with leading researchers and cutting edge facilities.

The programme enables Israeli scientists of outstanding ability to pursue their postdoctoral research at the University of Cambridge, while fostering a scholarly exchange and greater understanding between researchers in Britain and in Israel.

Cambridge is an ideal and scenic place for families or individuals, with plenty cultural and educational activities, sports and much more.

Additional to the Stipend for a period of two years, the scheme provides a fund for professional development, visa costs, parental leave policy and help with childcare costs.

We are inviting applications from Israelis seeking to undertake their first postdoctoral funding in the fields of life sciences, physical sciences and engineering at the University of Cambridge. Fellows will receive an annual stipend of £30,000. Additional funding of up to £6,000, to support direct research costs including bench fees, conference attendance and visa fees, will be available through the respective university departments.

Subject to set criteria and availability of funds, Fellows will also be able to apply for partially paid/unpaid Parental Leave, as well as for assistance with some of the costs of pre-school childcare.

Fellowships will be tenable for up to two years. Funding for the second year is subject to satisfactory undertaking of the Fellowship and subject to approval by the Grant Committee.
